The University of Waikato is one of New Zealand's most modern and innovative universities, based in the beautiful river city of Hamilton, with a satellite campus in Tauranga.
The University of Waikato in 2014 celebrate its first 50 years. For a young university we are already making our mark on the world. The University is placed in the top 2% of universities around the globe.
The University of Waikato is widely recognised for its flexibility and international standards of tuition and research. In addition to offering innovative pathways into a wide range of qualifications ranging from undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, Waikato emphasises interdisciplinary programmes and specialised research.

We are home to more than 12,500 students including close to 2,000 international students from over 70 countries. All our degree programmes are internationally recognised, our global connections are wide and strong, and we do everything to help our international students succeed.

Care support for international students


Waikato International is dedicated to the service and support of international students. The Waikato International Centre coordinates the processing of applications, orientation, accommodation and airport pick-up services, student permit/visa renewals, medical insurance and other general concerns. Accommodation options


The University has four halls of residence on campus with around 1000 beds, offering fully catered or self catered options. Facilities include TV lounges, computer laboratories and laundry facilities. Rooms are single, fully furnished and centrally heated. Other accommodation options available include homestay or renting off-campus accommodation.
