Waikato Diocesan School for Girls is Hamilton's only girls' school for Year 9 to Year 13 students. The school opened in 1928. Its rich traditions and sense of history are balanced by innovative classroom programmes. Our girls have the opportunity to achieve to their full potential academically as well as in sporting and cultural endeavours.


Waikato Diocesan School for Girls warmly welcomes international students into our school community and values the rich cultural mix they bring to our learning environment. Dio is a state-integrated Anglican school with a roll of around 680 students. Our school has well-established traditions of excellence and is widely recognised as one of the highest performing schools in New Zealand, with an enviable record of academic, sporting and cultural achievements. Our Dean of International Students and Pastoral team provide students with a comprehensive orientation of the school upon their arrival and they have access to small ESOL classes where they can develop their English language skills.
