The School

Thames High School is a medium sized state, co-educational school for years 9-13 with a roll of approximately 600 students, including 20 International Students from around the world. "Sharing the unique Coromandel experience with you" is our slogan. We are situated in a semi-rural environment, with beautiful natural surroundings at the base of the Coromandel Peninsula, just over one hour's drive from Auckland.

Thames is a friendly, safe town of about 7,000 people with a busy shopping center, a large 24-hour hospital, a well stocked library and numerous sporting and cultural facilities. The Coromandel has a rich history of gold mining and is famous for its access to beautiful beaches, forests and scenery. It is a favorite holiday destination for New Zealanders ( "Kiwis") who love tramping, fishing, kayaking, boating and sailing.

At Thames High School, students find meaningful, engaging opportunities to experience success and strive for the highest standards. We have high aspirations for students and are committed to supporting their personal initiative, creativity, self-esteem and self-discipline.
