Care support for international students

Enrolments for international students are accepted throughout the year with students able to begin their studies at the start of any of the first three school terms. All international students are cared for by the Dean of International Students who arranges their academic programme, their living accommodation, their medical/travel insurance. Assistance can also be given with travel to and from airports and the opening of bank accounts. The Dean meets regularly with the International students, their teachers and their Home stay/hostel parents to monitor their wellbeing.

The ESOL department has classes available from years 9 - 13 taught by qualified and caring specialist teachers. Senior Student Mentors are arranged for all new students to help them settle into school life quickly.

Accommodation options

Most international students live in private home stays with NZ families who are selected by the Dean of International Students. Students will have their own bedroom and will have all meals, laundry, bedding and furniture provided by the family. They are also included in the family's outings and activities and are treated as family members.

The school hostel Argyle House, is situated in the school grounds and has limited numbers of places for international students. During hostel term holidays, students live in home stays arranged by the Director.
