St Peter's School, Cambridge, is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for Years 7-13.
The school was founded in 1936.We base our educational philosophy on development of "body, mind and spirit".The school aims to develop the whole person through academic programmes, chapel services, sports, pastoral care, outdoor education, music and leadership opportunities. St Peter's is located on 40 hectares of park like grounds 5 minutes from the town of Cambridge and 20 minutes from Hamilton. The facilities are modern, with 6 faculty based teaching centres, attached computer suites, auditorium, students' centre, sports fields, astroturf, equestrian and golf facilites.

General Areas of Study

St Peter's is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to deliver the New Zealand curriculum Years 7-13.
International students are prepared to enter universities or other tertiary institutions in New Zealand and overseas. The school offers all the conventional academic subjects in English, mathematics, sciences, business, languages, arts and technology as well as vocationally focused subjects such as tourism studies, graphics,and design. Full subject options are available from the school.
An Equestrian Academy offers sports, competition and academic options.
The New Zealand Golf Academy based at school offers high level coaching and competition opportunites.

Care support for international students

St Peter's School is a signatory to the government Code of Practice and has developed a wide range of services and support programmes.
Support is provided by a Dean of International students, Student Services Officer, Homestay and Holiday Coordinator and international student leaders. Supervision and support extends beyond the school gates throughout the school year, including during holidays.
Support is coordinated by the Pastoral Care Focus group which allocates a staff member to every student in need of help.
An ESL programme is offered to all international students by specialist, qualified teachers. One to one assistance by ESL tutors is available at an extra cost as well as subject tutors. Students are assisted by the ESL department with mainstream subject learning. IELTS and TOEFL courses are available on demand. A High School Preparation Programme will operate in 2006.

Accommodation options

The majority of international students live 7 days per week in one of our age related boarding houses. A small number of students live full time in homestays selected and monitored by the school. Homestays are organised for boarders during holidays and weekend breaks.
